Friday Favorites

Happy Friday!  It has been raining cats and dogs here all week, and this day is no exception.  They had to cancel the Huntsville baseball league playoffs.  Big stuff I tell ya'.

My munchkins had their last day of school today.  It was bittersweet.  I'm always happy that they do so well, but it's also a little sad to see them growing up so quickly.  Eli begins 3rd grade at the Intermediate school next year, and Emme will stay at Primary for 1st grade.  We plan on doing some fun things this summer and have already made our bucket list!  I'm going to write each plan on tags I picked up at Hobby Lobby and make a little booklet out of them.  We can tear each one off when that fun activity is accomplished.  I'm a check the box kind of person, but I mostly like listening to the things they would like to do....American Girl Store, attend a Texas Rangers game, visit the cousins, visit California (what?), etc. So cute!!!

My sweet friend, Claleigh Tuberville, gave me this homemade eye makeup remover.  Oh my goodness.  It works so well and doesn't leave my skin feeling oily.  I will get the exact recipe from her and share it, but she said it is made up of baby oil, baby shampoo, and water.  That's it.  It works like a charm....even better than the expensive brands!

Mission accomplished today.  I finally found a pair of shorts that did not show off the hail damage on the back of my legs.  They are from Old Navy, and they are 5"!!!  If you've been shorts shopping this year, you'll know what an accomplishment this really is.  They fit great, and right now they are buy one pair and get the second pair half off.  www.oldnavy.com.

I finished painting our laundry room last weekend, and I decided to hang some things.  I ended up using items from other areas of the house (except the clock and washing board).  What do you think?  I'm still loving my wall color.  It goes with almost everything!!!!

I'm making this short and sweet today, because I need to get some rest for the weekend.  Eli is participating in a baseball tournament, and it takes a lot of energy to be a baseball mom. :-)  I wouldn't change it for the world.

XOXO,
Robin

Sunday Stuff

Hi y'all.  Well, I am a little behind on Friday Favorites so I decided to call today's post Sunday Stuff.  This is why I was never asked to be a copywriter.  Here are just a few things from the past 2 weeks.

I HAVE to brag on my boy.  Eli won the 2nd grade spelling bee.  There were 3 kids out of every 2nd grade class invited to participate which equaled 21 kids.  I never knew a spelling bee could be so exciting!  We are so proud of him and cannot wait to see what God has in store for this little smarty pants.

Last weekend we celebrated my nephew's high school graduation.  Tyler graduated from Fayetteville High and plans to major in Agri Business at U of A.  We are very proud of him, too, and also cannot wait to see where God takes him.  Tyler is special for many reasons, but he was a breath of fresh air when he was born.  My dad died January 10, and Tyler was born February 18.  He brought new life to our family when it was much needed.  Way to go, Tyler Daniel!!!!

We celebrated Emme's kindergarten graduation Thursday night.  It was so fun.  People come out of the woods for this event.  The basketball gym is filled with yells, claps, and whoop-whoop's (or however that is spelled).  We love Mrs. McCullough for loving on Emme, and also pushing her when needed.  She is able to see each child's ability and teaches them accordingly.  Emme was also lucky that Mrs. Randall (on the right) came in halfway through the year to shadow Mrs. McCullough.  Emme LOVES her!  We still get to see Mrs. Randall at Eli's baseball games so we haven't had to let go completely yet. :-)

Emme is pictured here with her principal and my friend, Candra Brasel.  Mrs. Brasel was a trooper that night, because she had to get her picture taken with each child holding their certificate.  The things we put our principal's through.

I started a tradition when Eli was in kindergarten, and I'm going to start this for Emme, too.  Every year the kids are in school, I have their teacher write a note in the Dr. Seuss book "Oh, the Places You'll Go".  It's the token high school graduation gift, but I think it will be extra special with sweet notes from their teachers.  They will (hopefully) appreciate it one day.  I am also going to do something special for their last day of school.  I will post pictures of that next week.  Message me if you want to know sooner!

This is random, but I bought this cute sundress from Wal-Mart!  Can you believe it?  It's hard to tell in the picture, but it is a black and yellow ikat pattern with a drawstring waist and V-neck.  Totes adorbs!  It was only $10.  If it is too see through for a dress, I'm going to wear it as a bathing suit cover-up.  Either way it will look cute.

I hope you have a wonderful Memorial weekend.  We are eating and laughing our way through it, but it's been so nice.  Even in the Noah like weather.  I just pray I never forget why we are able to celebrate so freely.  The men and women who fought, and the unfortunate ones who gave their lives, are the real heroes.  God bless the USA!!!!

Xoxo,
Robin

Friday Favorites

Happy Friday!!!  It is cloudy and a little cool, but that's ok.  The weekend can begin in a few short hours.  We have a ball tournament this weekend and get to celebrate our Mama's Sunday.  I'm not sure what I'd do without mine.  She is wonderful and has been there for me every step of the way through my recent journey (and all the others!).  Mwah!

I mainly have decorating things to show you today.  As I'm sure you know, I LOVE decorating!  We are in our homes most of the time (except for ball season) so it should be a place of refuge and somewhere you enjoy.  That being said, I wanted to change my wall colors from yellow to something more soothing.  Paint is a very inexpensive way to make a big impact.  Here are the before pics of my kitchen (our keeping room was also yellow).

Now the after.....

What do you think?  I love it.  It really makes the colors stand out, and it goes with almost anything.  It is called Ponder by Sherwin Williams.  I'll post pictures of the rest of the house as I go.  It is definitely a process!!!

There is a community of bloggers that participate in a One Room Challenge every year.  One of my goals is to be part of it in the next year or two.  Anyhoo, here are a few pictures of two of my favorite bloggers.  Hope you enjoy!

The Pink Clutch
Could you just die?  I am such a sucker for monograms, wallpaper, and bright fabrics.

Dimples and Tangles

I love her gallery wall, and also the way she has arranged the furniture in her bedroom.  The drapes are pretty fabulous, too.  Don't be surprised if you see a few of these ideas show up in my house somewhere.

It is teacher appreciation week, and I just want to give a shout out to the women who pour into my children's lives every day: Mrs.McCullough and Mrs.Vanlandingham.  I wish I had pictures of them to share.  I have a new phone, and the pictures haven't been transferred over yet.  Take my word for it; they are just as beautiful outside as they are on the inside.  I am so grateful for them, but I cannot wait to see what God has in store for my babies this upcoming school year.  God is good.  All the time.

Here are just a few pictures from last night's game.  One is my ball player, and the other is Emme and her ball field buddies.  Oh, the life.

I hope y'all have a great weekend.  Don't forget to spoil your mom.  She deserves it!!!!

Robin

Friday Favorites

Happy, happy Friday!  It's hard to believe it's May 1.  I just love Spring.  The new growth, flowers, precursor to summer vacation, and evenings spent on the back porch.  Ahhhh.....life is good!

I am a mess in motion when it comes to our house.  I am constantly painting, buying new pillows, or doing something to refresh a room or two (or five).  Right now, I am in the process of picking out a paint color for the main living areas in our home.  I'm really digging the grays right now and have the hubs approval.  So, here is the before of our family room.  I will post after picks when I finish painting the walls.  By the way, I didn't bother to clean up the room before posting, because this is how it looks everyday.  I included the picture of our dog, Zoe, because she's cute and thinks Eli's pallet is her new bed.  Dogs are the best.

Yesterday was SO.MUCH.FUN!!!!  Jarrod Rogers and Brittany Lyman picked up Jagger, Jace, Eli and Emme from school in Jarrod's limo.  What?  We were headed to watch the Huntsville Eagles girl's softball game and decided to ride in style.  You should have seen the kids in the limo.  Hilarious!  Big shout out to Jarrod for being so generous with his limo driving skilz.  We also had a dance show from Jagger as a bonus.

I am in love with this fabric and am going to incorporate it into my kitchen and keeping room.  It will look so good with my new walls!

The kids were supposed to wear a pig shirt today in honor of their principal, Mrs.Candra Brasel, kissing a pig during the Eagle rally.  The kids met their reading goals, and this is the main prize.  Isn't that great?  Anyhoo, it gave me the perfect excuse to run into Southern Trend to buy Emme and myself some summer t's.  I bought this one, and Emme has the same pattern but on a gray t-shirt.  Check them out!  They are a local company, and I'm all about supporting local businesses. www.southerntrend.com.

I hope y'all have an amazing weekend.  We are going to dinner with good friends tonight, attending a ladies tea, baseball practice, and working the PTSO talent show tomorrow.  Emme is also singing with her class in the show.  I can't wait to see her perform.  Drama is in her DNA.  From her dad, of course.
